A first and a finish.

My biggest boy had his first ever day at nursery the week. Just 2 1/2 hours one afternoon a week at the school he will go to when the time comes. He ran off and played without a backwards glance and was apparently great the whole time, probably helped by the fact 2 of his little friends were there. They all made cards for mothers day, plus he had lots of fun cutting and sticking.
Me and the little man played in the garden while he was out and it was lovely to spend some time with just him.

Crafting wise I haven't had time to do much, but I have got a finish. The picture is very washed out but I am pleased with it, I just hope the person I have made it for likes it too..

Reading the news

A big shake up in adoption is coming from the sounds of it, but one line in this article has just made a big difference to our future adoption plans.

Legal changes to make it easier for children to be fostered by people approved for adoption so that a child might be fostered by someone who goes on to adopt them
Concurrent adoption is very rare in this country, and when it does happen it is normally with babies, or foster carers who are caring for children adoptive families can't be found for. I don't want to foster, I want to adopt a sibling group, but I want to be able to do it without them having to make several moves and being torn from several families. My brother came to us to be adopted at age 3 and had already had 5 foster families, plus several emergency placements while he had lived with his mum. That can't be good for anyone. Imagine being taken away from every single person you know and love, then imagine that happening several times over, then imagine you are too young to understand why. That is why I want to adopt concurrently if at all possible.

Tasting Spring

The bulbs are coming, there is washing on the line. We have spent the afternoon out in the garden pulling out weeds and sorting out plant pots. It may be forecast to snow very slightly this weekend, but it feels like spring is just around the corner. And there are few things that make me feel better then being outside in the fresh air.

Curses?

A bit of a brain dump again so please excuse me. I just need to get my feelings down.

My cousin lost her first baby this week, she was 14 weeks pregnant. All had been fine at her scan a couple of weeks ago. We aren't at all close but that doesn't make it less sad. In the Autumn my younger brother and his wife lost their first baby. Back before I had my eldest I had a mmc with my first baby, a couple of months after another cousin had a mmc, which was a couple of months after my sil had a mmc...

I know miscarriage isn't at all uncommon, but every single grandchild that has been pregnant or had a pregnant wife has lost their first child. With my younger brother I knew it was going to happen. It hit me as I was driving along thinking about their baby. Turns out she started bleeding that day. It can't be a genetic thing as there are several adoptions so actually very few genetic links. I am fully aware it could just be coincidence as sadly miscarriage is one of those things that does just happen. However I really can't shake the feeling that there is something more to this.
